Senior / Associate Planner – Oxford
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and RTPI Chartered Senior or Associate Planner to join a well-established and highly regarded planning and development team based in Oxford.
Working as part of a collaborative and fully integrated regional team, you will be involved in a wide range of planning and development projects across multiple sectors throughout the South and South West. The role offers the chance to work with a diverse client base including major landowners, educational institutions, healthcare organisations, and residential developers.
This position will focus heavily on planning policy and the promotion of development sites through Local and Neighbourhood Plan consultations and examinations. Responsibilities will include assessing emerging planning policy frameworks, preparing and submitting representations on behalf of clients, and presenting evidence at examination hearings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing professional and strategic planning advice to clients
- Preparing representations to Local Plans and other Development Plan Documents
- Presenting oral evidence at Local Plan examination hearings
- Negotiating with local authorities and statutory consultees on planning matters
- Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications
- Preparing and submitting planning appeals including written representations, hearings and inquiries
- Advising clients on the planning potential of sites from a policy-led perspective
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Supporting business development and contributing to wider team objectives
About You:
- RTPI Chartered with significant post-qualification experience
- Strong planning policy experience gained in either the private or public sector
- Experience promoting sites through the plan-making process
- Excellent written, analytical and communication skills
- Ability to manage projects independently and work collaboratively within a team
- Commercially aware, proactive and ambitious in your professional development
- Experience in housing land supply analysis, socio-economic evidence or development viability would be advantageous but is not essential
