Job Title: Associate Transport Planner
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent


About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Transport Planner to join our growing private consultancy team. This role is ideal for someone with a solid foundation in transport planning who is looking to take the next step in their career, contributing to a wide range of development and infrastructure projects.

You will support the delivery of transport assessments, travel plans, and strategic transport studies for clients across sectors including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans to support planning applications
  • Analyse transport data, including traffic flows, accident records, and accessibility metrics
  • Undertake junction capacity modelling using industry-standard software (e.g., ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig)
  • Assist in the design and appraisal of transport schemes and mitigation measures
  • Support senior team members in project delivery and client liaison
  • Attend meetings with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to reports, presentations, and technical documents
  • Keep up to date with relevant transport planning policy and guidance

Requirements

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline
  • 9+ years of relevant experience in transport planning, ideally within a consultancy environment
  • Familiarity with UK planning policy and transport guidance (e.g., NPPF, Manual for Streets)
  • Experience with transport modelling software and GIS tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work on multiple projects

Desirable Skills

  • Progress towards or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIHT, TPS, ICE)
  • Experience with sustainable transport strategies and active travel planning
  • Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) related to transport
  • Project management experience
