Consultant / Senior Planning Consultant
Location: Edinburgh

About the Company
A leading integrated Planning and Strategic Communications consultancy is seeking a talented Consultant or Senior Planning Consultant to join its Edinburgh office. The firm operates across the UK and Ireland, delivering commercially focused strategic advice and securing planning approvals across a wide range of sectors, including energy, infrastructure, residential, retail, commercial, industrial, healthcare, tourism, and leisure.

The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional to join a growing Edinburgh team. You will work closely with senior leadership to manage an expanding caseload and support the delivery of diverse projects across Great Britain.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the management and delivery of planning projects across multiple sectors
  • Supporting senior colleagues in project coordination and client engagement
  • Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the GB portfolio
  • Managing deadlines and delivering high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment

This role offers strong potential for career progression and ongoing professional development, with a clear pathway towards Associate level.

About You
You will be a motivated and capable planning professional with:

  • A degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning
  • A minimum of 2 years’ post-graduate professional experience
  • RTPI Chartered status or working towards it
  • Strong knowledge of the Scottish planning system (essential) and experience of the English system (desirable)

Additional requirements:

  • Excellent IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Effective problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
