Senior Planning Officer (Development Management)

Location: Hybrid – Office attendance once per week / fortnight
Working Pattern: 3 Days per Week
Contract: Start in 4 Weeks
Rate: Competitive (DOE) Inside IR35 or Outside IR35

A Local Authority is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer to support their Development Management team on a part-time basis (3 days per week).

This role will involve managing a mixed caseload of minor and major planning applications, supporting the authority in delivering timely and robust planning decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of minor and major planning applications from submission through to determination.

  • Undertake site visits, consultations, and negotiations with applicants and stakeholders.

  • Prepare delegated reports and planning committee reports with clear recommendations.

  • Provide pre-application advice to developers, agents, and members of the public.

  • Liaise with internal teams, statutory consultees, and external stakeholders throughout the planning process.

  • Assist with planning appeals and representation at hearings where required.

Senior Planning Officers typically manage a range of planning applications, provide advice to applicants and stakeholders, and prepare reports and recommendations for planning decisions or committee consideration.
