Senior Planning Enforcement Officer

Rate: £40–£50 per hour
Contract: 6 Months (initial)

We are currently assisting a Local Authority in Cumbria in the search for an experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join their Planning Service on an initial 6-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied caseload of enforcement investigations and play a key role in ensuring compliance with planning legislation and protecting the local environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, including unauthorised development and non-compliance with planning conditions.

• Undertake site inspections, evidence gathering, and case management for enforcement investigations.

• Prepare and serve enforcement notices, breach of condition notices, and other legal documentation where necessary.

• Draft reports and statements for planning appeals, hearings, and court proceedings.

• Provide professional advice to members, residents, developers, and stakeholders on planning enforcement matters.

• Work closely with legal services and planning colleagues to resolve complex enforcement cases.

• Monitor compliance with planning permissions, obligations, and enforcement notices.
