I’m delighted to be supporting a Local Authority in the East of England in the search for an experienced Principal Planning Officer to join their Major Applications Team on an minimum 9-month contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead on a major residential development of 600–700 homes, working closely with developers and senior stakeholders through a Planning Performance Agreement (PPA).

You’ll play a key role in negotiations, project management, and committee engagement, helping to drive a significant scheme through the planning process.

Not based in the East of England? No problem. The role is fully remote, with only occasional site visits and committee meetings as required.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading on a major residential planning application (600–700 units)
• Managing and negotiating Planning Performance Agreements (PPAs)
• Liaising with developers, internal stakeholders, and planning committees
• Overseeing the progression of major planning applications

Contract Details

• Rate: £50 – £60 per hour
• Contract Length: Initial 9 months (very likely to extend)
• Hours: 37 hours per week
• Working Pattern: Fully remote (site visits/committee attendance as required)

The experience you’ll bring

• Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and regulations
• Proven experience managing major planning applications
• PPA negotiation and delivery experience
