About the Role
My client is currently seeking a Planner or Senior Planner to join their Manchester office. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of development projects, including residential, commercial, mixed-use, and regeneration schemes.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality planning advice, working closely with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:

Providing planning advice across a wide range of development projects

Preparing, reviewing, and managing planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation

Undertaking site appraisals, planning research, and policy analysis

Drafting Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements, and other technical reports
-
Liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, and key stakeholders
-
Supporting or leading project teams to deliver timely and commercially focused outcomes
-
Keeping up to date with changes in planning policy and legislation
Additional responsibilities at Senior Planner level:

Leading smaller projects or client accounts with minimal supervision

Taking ownership of planning applications and appeals, including developing strategy

Mentoring and supporting junior team members

Contributing to business development and maintaining strong client relationships
Candidate Profile
My client is looking for candidates with the following:
Essential:
-
Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
-
Working towards (Planner) or holding (Senior Planner) MRTPI membership
-
Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority, or similar environment
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Good understanding of the UK planning system and policy
-
Ability to manage workloads effectively and work collaboratively
Desirable:

Experience working on projects in the North West or wider North of England

Appeal experience or involvement in major development schemes

Confidence in client-facing situations
