We are now looking for a Senior Planner (Minerals and Major Development) to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

The Role
As a Senior Planner, you will take the lead on delivering a successful development management service for minerals and other major development proposals that may be proposed in the National Park.
Specifically, you will assess and monitor applications and their implementation related to the Woodsmith and Boulby Polyhalite Mines, ensuring the National Park’s interests are safeguarded at every stage.
In this varied role, you’ll provide expert input on S106 agreements, enforcement and planning appeals, handle public and stakeholder enquiries, and ensure every project meets policy, legal and environmental standards.
Additionally, you will:
- Monitor compliance with planning conditions and legal obligations
- Advise applicants and communities on minerals and major development matters
- Represent the Authority at meetings, liaison groups and public events
About You
To be considered as a Senior Planner, you will need:
- Experience of public and media relations in a semi-political environment
- Experience working with communities on contentious or high-profile projects
- A strong understanding of the planning system from both developer and planning authority perspectives
- Knowledge of environmental issues relating to minerals and/or other major development or infrastructure
- An understanding of Health and Safety legislation
- To be educated to degree level or equivalent
- Full membership of a relevant professional institute, ideally planning
- A full, valid driving licence
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required
