I'm currently supporting a few Local Authories seeking experienced Senior / Principal Planners to join their Development Management team and support a busy programme of major, minor and complex planning work.
There is a genuine need for additional experienced resource within the team, with a number of major developments, strategic growth schemes and complex applications currently being progressed. They're looking for someone who can come in and confidently manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision.
The roles will involve:
- Managing a varied caseload of major and minor planning applications
- Taking the lead on major residential developments and more complex schemes
- Supporting strategic growth projects
- Dealing with large-scale infrastructure schemes
- Managing complex planning applications and appeals
- Handling minor applications alongside the wider majors caseload
- Working across a range of high-profile Development Management work
The council is looking for candidates with:
- Strong Development Management experience
- Experience operating at Senior Planner or Principal Planner level
- Previous experience handling both major and minor planning applications
- The ability to manage complex applications confidently and independently
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Previous experience within a majors team would be beneficial, although strong Development Management planners with relevant experience will also be considered
Rate: £45–£63 per hour, depending on experience.
Working arrangements: Highly flexible and predominantly remote, with approximately 1 day per week in the office, or 2 days per fortnight, and the remainder of the work completed remotely.
These roles offers long-term contract potential and the opportunity to work across a broad and challenging caseload, including major developments, minor applications, strategic growth projects and complex planning work.
