Senior Planning Enforcement Officer
West Midlands | 6-Month Contract | £40-£50 per hour (DOE)
Are you an experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer looking for your next contract opportunity?
We are working with a Local Authority in the West Midlands seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement professional to join their team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a varied enforcement caseload, working on complex planning breaches while providing technical expertise and support to the wider planning service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload of planning enforcement investigations from initial complaint through to resolution.
- Prepare and serve Planning Contravention Notices, Enforcement Notices, Breach of Condition Notices and other formal notices.
- Conduct site visits and gather evidence to support enforcement action.
- Negotiate with landowners, developers and agents to achieve compliance where appropriate.
- Prepare prosecution and appeal documentation, working closely with Legal Services.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues, elected members and other stakeholders on planning enforcement matters.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Planning Enforcement Officer within a UK Local Authority.
- Strong working knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement procedures.
- Experience managing complex and sensitive enforcement cases independently.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and report-writing skills.
- Ability to hit the ground running with minimal supervision.

- Rate: £40-£50 per hour (dependent on experience)
