Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established Town Planning and Heritage Consultancy in their search for a Heritage Consultant to join their team in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Heritage Consultant to join a highly respected consultancy with a strong track record in securing planning permission and delivering successful development projects across the UK. The successful candidate will work on a wide variety of commercial and residential schemes for major private and public sector clients within a collaborative and supportive environment.

THE ROLE
As a Heritage Consultant, you will provide specialist advice on heritage and archaeological matters across a broad range of development projects.
You will work closely with planning colleagues, developers, architects, and local authorities to ensure projects align with heritage legisla tion, planning policy, and conservation best practice, continuing to develop your expertise as a Heritage Consultant within a growing consultancy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preparing Heritage Statements, Archaeological Desk Based Assessments, and Impact Assessments
• Advising clients on heritage and archaeological matters relating to planning applications and listed building consent
• Assessing the significance of historic buildings, sites, and landscapes
• Conducting site visits, heritage appraisals, and impact assessments
• Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, Historic England, and stakeholders
• Supporting clients throughout the planning process from pre-application through to post-consent
• Assisting with appeals, hearings, and heritage-related negotiations
• Supporting business development, networking, and client relationship activities
• Cre ating LinkedIn content and supporting wider company marketing initiatives

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Degree in Archaeology, Architecture, Planning, or a related discipline
• Experience within a heritage consultancy, planning consultancy, or similar environment
• Strong knowledge of UK heritage legislation and planning policy including the NPPF
• Experience preparing heritage assessments and statements
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively
• Membership of CIfA or IHBC desirable
• Experience preparing appeal statements and attending hearings advantageous
