A Local Authority client is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Planning Officer to support a busy Development Management team on a long-term interim basis.

This role will focus on a varied caseload of major housing developments, alongside handling public enquiries and planning appeals. You’ll play a key role in progressing significant applications while working closely with internal stakeholders, developers, and members of the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing major residential and mixed-use planning applications
  • Dealing with public enquiries and stakeholder engagement
  • Preparing and handling planning appeals
  • Providing professional planning advice and recommendations
  • Supporting wider Development Management functions where required

Requirements:

  • Previous Local Authority planning experience
  • Strong background in major applications and housing schemes
  • Experience handling appeals and public-facing planning matters
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced team

⏳ The council can wait up to 4 weeks notice for the right candidate.
