Local Authorities across England are seeking experienced Principal Planning Policy Officers to play a key role in delivering ambitious spatial strategies and high-quality place-making outcomes.

The Role

As a Principal Planning Policy Officer, you will take a leading role in the development, implementation, and review of planning policy, helping shape sustainable communities and long-term growth.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Leading or supporting the preparation of Local Plans and planning policy documents

• Drafting, reviewing, and justifying planning policies based on robust evidence

• Managing complex evidence bases and translating data into sound policy approaches

• Advising Members, senior officers, and stakeholders on strategic planning matters

• Supporting public consultation, examination, and engagement processes

• Monitoring policy effectiveness and contributing to statutory reporting

• Deputising for senior management and mentoring junior staff where required

All roles i am working on are betwee 6 and 12 month contracts with the view to extend. Additionally the take home pay is between: £4470-£6000 monthly after tax!
