Senior Planning Enforcement Officer
Contract: 6-Month Rolling Contract
Rate: £45–£50 per hour (DOE)
Location: Hybrid – Weekly Office Attendance Required

Are you an experienced Planning Enforcement professional ready to take ownership of a high-impact caseload and make a real difference in shaping communities? We are seeking a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking local authority team on a 6-month rolling contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume caseload (50+ cases), including complex and sensitive enforcement matters

• Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, conduct site visits, and gather evidence

• Prepare and serve enforcement notices, breach of condition notices, stop notices, and related legal documentation

• Handle appeals, including written representations, hearings, and inquiries

• Work closely with legal teams to support prosecutions and court proceedings where necessary

• Provide expert planning enforcement advice to internal stakeholders, councillors, and the public

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory and internal requirements

About You

• Proven experience working as a Planning Enforcement Officer within a local authority setting

• Strong working knowledge of UK planning legislation, enforcement procedures, and appeal processes

• Experience managing large and complex caseloads independently

• Excellent investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Confident communicator with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally

• Ability to prioritise workload effectively in a high-pressure environment

• Relevant qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline (desirable)
