Senior Planning Enforcement Officer
Contract: 6-Month Rolling Contract
Rate: £45–£50 per hour (DOE)
Location: Hybrid – Weekly Office Attendance Required

We are seeking a Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking local authority team on a 6-month rolling contract.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a high-volume caseload (50+ cases), including complex and sensitive enforcement matters

Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, conduct site visits, and gather evidence

Prepare and serve enforcement notices, breach of condition notices, stop notices, and related legal documentation

Handle appeals, including written representations, hearings, and inquiries

Work closely with legal teams to support prosecutions and court proceedings where necessary

Provide expert planning enforcement advice to internal stakeholders, councillors, and the public

Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory and internal requirements
About You

Proven experience working as a Planning Enforcement Officer within a local authority setting

Strong working knowledge of UK planning legislation, enforcement procedures, and appeal processes

Experience managing large and complex caseloads independently

Excellent investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Confident communicator with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally

Ability to prioritise workload effectively in a high-pressure environment

Relevant qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline (desirable)
