I’m currently working exclusively with a well-regarded planning consultancy as they look to appoint a Senior or Principal Town Planner to join their growing team in Derby.

This is a key hire for the business as they look to organically grow their residential and commercial planning team, bringing in an experienced planner who can play an important role in delivering projects and helping shape the next stage of the team’s growth.

The Opportunity

You will join a collaborative and well-established consultancy working on a broad range of residential and commercial development projects across the region. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients and contribute to the continued expansion of the planning team.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing a variety of planning projects from inception through to determination

• Preparing and submitting planning applications and supporting documentation

• Leading on client relationships and providing strategic planning advice

• Managing planning appeals and supporting site promotion work

• Engaging with local authorities, consultants and key stakeholders

• Supporting the ongoing growth and development of the planning team

About You

The consultancy is looking for an experienced planner who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a growing team.

You will likely have:

• Several years’ experience within a planning consultancy or private sector environment

• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system

• Experience working on residential and/or commercial development projects

• Excellent report writing and client-facing skills

• Membership of, or eligibility for membership of, the Royal Town Planning Institute
