Historic Building Conservation Officer
Location: Kent (Local Authority)
Contract: 3-Month Contract
Rate: £35–£40 per hour (DOE)
Hours: 15–20 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid – Office attendance once per fortnight
Interviews: Scheduled for early next week
Are you a skilled Conservation professional with a passion for protecting and enhancing historic environments? We are working with a Kent-based Local Authority seeking a Historic Building Conservation Officer to support their team on a flexible, part-time contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the preservation of the borough’s unique heritage, working on a varied portfolio of listed buildings and conservation projects.
Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist advice on listed building applications, conservation areas, and heritage-led developments

Assess proposals affecting heritage assets, ensuring compliance with national and local planning policies

Work closely with planning officers, applicants, and stakeholders to achieve sensitive and appropriate outcomes

Assist in the management and protection of designated and non-designated heritage assets

Prepare written reports and recommendations for planning committees where required
