Historic Building Conservation Officer
Location: Kent (Local Authority)
Contract: 3-Month Contract
Rate: £35–£40 per hour (DOE)
Hours: 15–20 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid – Office attendance once per fortnight
Interviews: Scheduled for early next week

Are you a skilled Conservation professional with a passion for protecting and enhancing historic environments? We are working with a Kent-based Local Authority seeking a Historic Building Conservation Officer to support their team on a flexible, part-time contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the preservation of the borough’s unique heritage, working on a varied portfolio of listed buildings and conservation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist advice on listed building applications, conservation areas, and heritage-led developments

  • Assess proposals affecting heritage assets, ensuring compliance with national and local planning policies

  • Work closely with planning officers, applicants, and stakeholders to achieve sensitive and appropriate outcomes

  • Assist in the management and protection of designated and non-designated heritage assets

  • Prepare written reports and recommendations for planning committees where required
