As a specialist recruiter working in partnership with a respected independent planning consultancy in Edinburgh, I’m delighted to be recruiting for a Graduate / Assistant Town Planner to join their expanding team.
This opportunity is ideal for a graduate with some professional planning experience — whether gained through a placement year, internship, or post-graduate role — who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The Opportunity
You’ll work closely with experienced planners on a broad range of projects across Scotland, including residential, mixed-use, commercial and rural developments. This is a fantastic platform to gain hands-on exposure across the full planning process while working towards MRTPI accreditation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications
- Assisting with site appraisals, policy research and development plan reviews
- Drafting planning statements and supporting documentation
- Engaging with local authorities and key consultees
- Contributing to project coordination and client updates
About You
- RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning (or related discipline)
- 6–18 months’ planning experience (consultancy or local authority preferred)
- Strong written and analytical skills
- A proactive and commercially aware mindset
- Keen to work towards MRTPI chartership
