An established and highly respected independent planning consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Town Planner to join their growing team in Edinburgh. The firm has a strong reputation for delivering creative and commercially focused planning advice across the UK, working on a diverse mix of residential, commercial, renewable energy, and mixed-use developments.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced planner ready to take on more responsibility, lead projects, and play a key role in the continued growth of a successful consultancy.
You’ll manage a range of planning projects from inception to completion, providing expert advice to clients and local authorities, preparing planning submissions, and leading stakeholder engagement. The role also offers the chance to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of planning projects.
- Prepare and oversee planning applications, appeals, and development plans.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Provide strategic advice to both public and private sector clients.
- Support and mentor junior planners within the team.
About You
- MRTPI qualified (or working towards chartered status).
- Strong background in town planning, ideally within consultancy or local government.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Confident in client-facing and business development activities.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
