If you are a Town Planner looking for a fresh challenge you might want to consider an exciting new role at East Hampshire District Council. Following a review of staff resources, two new opportunities have been created within the Development Management Team to ensure we can build a team that will help shape our future.
East Hampshire is a beautiful district, benefiting from the South Downs National Park together with historic market towns, attractive villages and countryside. However, we face the same challenges many do in terms of where to locate new development and how to ensure there is suitable housing for everyone who needs it. Change is ongoing, we don’t want to stop change, we just want to make sure change is as positive as possible, and fair.
Working in an exceptionally beautiful and scenic part of the country, you can expect to deal with a wide range of planning applications, appeals and related enquiries. The Principal and Senior posts are aimed at experienced planners or those ready to take the next step up and would involve handling a caseload of major applications and complex minor proposals. The Principal position will also include some line managing responsibility as well as signing off delegated decisions. The right candidates will have excellent organisational and communication skills, together with a positive outlook.
The positions will comprise a hybrid style of working, as a mix of both home and office-based working. Flexible working arrangements to suit the work / life balance of the successful applicants will be considered. The Council has recently moved to new modern offices closer to Petersfield town centre and the railway station.

In return for your valued contribution, we can offer you a competitive benefits package which includes hybrid and flexible working options, training and development opportunities, generous annual leave and flexi time, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and more.
