Are you a Town Planner looking to take the next step in your career with one of the UK’s most respected independent planning consultancies? Our client, a forward-thinking and design-conscious firm, is seeking a motivated planner to join their growing Birmingham team.

About the Company

This award-winning consultancy is known for delivering intelligent, sustainable, and commercially viable planning advice across the residential, mixed-use, commercial, and strategic land sectors. With offices nationwide and a strong reputation for quality and collaboration, they work with a diverse client base — from major developers to local authorities and private landowners.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you’ll be involved in a wide range of exciting and high-profile projects across the Midlands and beyond. You’ll prepare and manage planning applications, contribute to planning appraisals, and provide strategic planning advice to clients. The role offers excellent exposure to projects of varying scale and complexity, alongside the opportunity to work with — and learn from — highly experienced senior planners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and managing planning applications and appeals

  • Undertaking research, site appraisals, and policy analysis

  • Preparing reports, planning statements, and client presentations

  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, and external consultants

  • Supporting business development and client relationship activities

About You

  • MRTPI-qualified or working towards chartership (support provided)

  • RTPI-accredited degree or master’s in Town Planning or related discipline

  • Ideally 2–4 years’ experience within a planning consultancy or local authority

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines

  • A collaborative, proactive approach and genuine enthusiasm for planning

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary (£35,000–£45,000 depending on experience)

  • Discretionary bonus and excellent benefits package

  • Flexible hybrid working (typically 2–3 days in the office)

  • Full support toward RTPI chartership

  • Clear progression path within a respected and growing consultancy

If you’re seeking a role where you can contribute to high-quality, meaningful projects while developing your career in a supportive environment, this could be the perfect move.
