Tree Officer – Surrey – £55-£60ph (Inside IR35)

I am working with a council based in Surrey who are looking to bring on board an experienced Tree Officer to support their Planning Department.

In this role, you will be responsible for assessing tree works applications, and there may also be the opportunity to provide arboricultural input into planning applications and development proposals where required. You will be supported in the role by an existing part-time Senior Tree Officer.

The role involves regular site visits as part of your assessments, so office/site presence will be required for at least 50% of your working time.

Key Duties:

  • Assess and determine applications for works to protected trees.
  • Provide arboricultural advice on planning applications and development proposals.
  • Carry out regular site visits and inspections.
  • Work closely with Planning Officers and other departments to ensure tree-related issues are properly considered.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Tree Officer or in a similar arboricultural role.
  • Strong knowledge of TPO legislation, conservation area protections, and BS5837.
  • Ability to assess the impact of development on trees.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site visits.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

Contract Details:

Rate: £55-£60 per hour (Inside IR35)

Location: Surrey (office/site presence approx. 50% of working time)

Contract Length: 6 months with a likely extension
