Working Pattern: Hybrid - 1-2 days per week in the office

Carrington West are currently working with a well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy who are looking to appoint a Town Planner to join their growing team in York.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Town Planner with experience in the UK planning system to develop their career within a consultancy environment, working on a diverse range of interesting and commercially focused projects.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team where you will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients and develop your planning expertise alongside experienced professionals.
The Role
As a Town Planner, you will be involved in a varied portfolio of commercial planning projects, providing planning advice and supporting projects from inception through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Managing a range of commercial planning projects.
· Providing high-quality planning advice to clients.
· Preparing and submitting planning applications.
· Liaising with local planning authorities, clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
· Undertaking planning research and preparing planning appraisals.
· Supporting senior members of the team on larger and more complex projects.
· Contributing to business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
· Representing clients at meetings and discussions with planning authorities and stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for a Town Planner with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and relevant experience within a consultancy, local authority or similar environment.
Ideally, you will have:
· A degree or Master's qualification accredited by the RTPI.
· Relevant experience within a planning environment.
· Experience or an interest in commercial planning projects.
· A good understanding of the UK planning system and planning policy.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong organisational and project management abilities.
· The confidence to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.
· A proactive approach to career development and professional growth.
MRTPI / Chartered status is not essential for this position, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates who are working towards chartership or looking to begin their APC.
