Principal Planning Policy Officer x 3

Purpose of the role
To lead and deliver a range of strategic planning policy activities for the Council, supporting the preparation, implementation and review of the Local Plan and other planning policy documents. The postholder will provide specialist planning policy advice, lead projects, and work collaboratively with internal teams, elected members, external partners, developers, communities and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, review and implementation of planning policy documents, including Local Plans, supplementary planning documents and other strategic planning frameworks.

  • Provide expert advice on planning policy, legislation, guidance and emerging planning issues.

  • Manage complex planning policy projects, ensuring they are delivered to agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.

  • Undertake research, evidence gathering, data analysis and policy appraisal to support plan-making and decision-making.

  • Coordinate public consultation and stakeholder engagement, including the analysis and consideration of representations.

  • Prepare reports, briefings and recommendations for senior officers, committees and elected Members.

Each role is 6 months initial with some offering 12 month contracts.

Additionally, the clients are happy to wait 2 months for someone.
