A respected, well-established planning consultancy in Cambridge is looking to add a Town Planner to its team. The role offers the chance to take on real responsibility across a varied and interesting workload, working alongside experienced colleagues who will support your progression towards chartership and beyond.
The role
- Prepare planning statements, appraisals and supporting documents for a range of projects, from straightforward schemes to larger, more complex developments
- Draft and submit planning applications and appeals, and monitor their progress through to decision
- Advise clients at every stage of the planning and development process
- Assess the planning potential of new development opportunities
- Carry out planning policy research and analysis to support project strategy
- Contribute to community engagement and consultation activities
- Attend committee meetings, public examinations, site visits and client meetings
- Help to shape fee proposals and project scopes
Requirements
- A degree in Town Planning or a related subject, ideally RTPI-accredited
- Previous planning experience, whether in consultancy or the public sector
- A genuine passion for planning and a proactive, ambitious approach to your career
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to manage your own caseload and meet deadlines
- A collaborative attitude and confidence working as part of a team
- A commitment to working towards chartership, if not already chartered
