Assistant Planner – Chester

Chester | Competitive salary + benefits | Full-time

We’re currently working with a well-established planning consultancy in Chester who are looking to appoint an Assistant Planner to join their growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious planning professional who already has hands-on experience within town planning and is looking to take the next step in their career.

The Role

Working alongside experienced planners and senior consultants, you’ll have the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of planning projects and clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications

  • Undertaking planning research and reviewing relevant policies

  • Supporting planning appraisals and development proposals

  • Liaising with local planning authorities and other stakeholders

  • Assisting with planning reports, statements and supporting documentation

  • Monitoring applications and providing updates to clients

  • Supporting senior members of the team across a varied project portfolio

About You

We’re looking for an Assistant Planner with previous experience in town planning who is keen to continue developing their career within consultancy.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Previous professional experience in town planning

  • A relevant degree in Town Planning, Planning & Development or a related subject

  • A good understanding of the UK planning system

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage deadlines

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn

  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

RTPI membership or a desire to work towards chartership would be advantageous.
