We are currently working with a highly regarded and growing property consultancy who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Town Planner to join their team in Colchester.

The Role
As a Senior Town Planner, you will play a key role in managing planning projects from inception through to delivery, providing strategic planning advice to clients and supporting the wider consultancy team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied portfolio of planning projects across residential, commercial and mixed-use development.
- Providing professional planning advice to landowners, developers and property clients.
- Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
- Undertaking planning appraisals and assessing development opportunities.
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, clients and other stakeholders.
- Managing projects, programmes and budgets effectively.
- Attending meetings, site visits and planning committees where required.
- Supporting junior members of the team and contributing to their professional development.
- Identifying new opportunities and contributing to the continued growth of the planning team.
About You
We are looking for an experienced planner with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and a genuine interest in the property and development sector.
Ideally, you will have:
- A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- RTPI membership or be working towards chartership.
- Several years' experience within a planning consultancy, property business or local authority environment.
- Strong knowledge of the English planning system.
- Experience managing planning applications and providing strategic planning advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and client-management ability.
- The confidence to manage projects independently while working effectively as part of a wider team.
- A proactive, ambitious and solutions-focused approach.
