Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading multidisciplinary consultancy with the appointment of an experienced Associate Planning Consultant to join their growing London and South East planning team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional looking to work on a diverse range of major infrastructure, development and strategic planning projects, working alongside leading professionals across engineering, environment and design.

The Role

As an Associate Planning Consultant, you will:

  • Act as Planning Lead on a range of projects across different markets and sectors.
  • Lead and support the preparation of bids, tenders and framework submissions.
  • Take responsibility for project management, delivery and client outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across planning, engineering, environmental and design disciplines.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior members of the planning team.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify and support new business and market growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to a range of major infrastructure and development projects across the UK.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A relevant degree in Planning or a related discipline.
  • RTPI membership or working towards membership.
  • Strong experience within planning, ideally across infrastructure, development or strategic planning.
  • Experience with the Environmental Impact Assessment process.
  • Good knowledge of planning policy and strategic planning.
  • Understanding of relevant planning and consenting processes, including TCPA, DCO and/or TWAO.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • The confidence to develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Previous involvement in business development, bid preparation or work winning would be advantageous.
