This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplined consultancy who offer award-winning expertise to the residential and commercial sectors. They are on the lookout for a talented and experienced Town Planner to hit the ground running for their Truro office.

Duties for the role of Town Planner include:

  • Providing planning advice to clients across a range of development sectors
  • Undertaking planning appraisals and assessing the development potential of sites
  • Preparing, coordinating and submitting planning applications and associated submissions
  • Managing a varied caseload of projects, from smaller bespoke schemes through to larger and more complex developments
  • Undertaking research into planning policy, legislation and relevant guidance
  • Preparing planning statements, reports and other supporting documentation
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, consultants and other stakeholders
  • Supporting negotiations with planning officers and other key stakeholders.
  • Assisting with planning appeals, hearings and other post-application matters where required
  • Working closely with architects, landscape architects and other members of the wider project team

Skills and experience for the role of Town Planner:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Town Planning, Planning, Geography or a related discipline
  • Relevant experience as a Town Planner within a planning consultancy, local authority or property environment
  • Good working knowledge of the UK planning system and development management
  • Experience preparing planning applications and supporting documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
  • The confidence to manage your own workload while contributing positively to a wider team
  • A commercially aware and client-focused approach
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality written work
