I’m currently recruiting for a Graduate Town Planner opportunity in Cambridge, offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a varied portfolio of planning projects. You’ll work closely with experienced planners, develop your technical knowledge and professional skills, and benefit from a structured graduate training programme designed to support your long-term career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of planning statements and planning appraisals
- Support the delivery of a range of planning projects, including larger and more complex schemes
- Prepare and submit planning applications and appeals
- Assist clients throughout the planning and development process
- Assess and appraise new development opportunities
- Undertake planning policy research and analysis
- Assist with the preparation of Design and Access Statements where appropriate
- Manage a variety of planning applications and monitor progress and outcomes
- Support community engagement and consultation activities
- Attend planning committee meetings and public examinations
- Participate in site visits and client meetings
- Assist with preparing fee proposals and project scopes
About You
- A degree in Town Planning or a related subject, ideally RTPI-accredited
- A clear interest in town planning and a genuine desire to develop a career in the sector
- Previous planning experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a team
- A proactive, motivated and ambitious approach to professional development
- Transferable skills and relevant experience are encouraged, and we welcome applications from candidates who may not meet every requirement
