Planning Policy Officer – Local Plan Examination (Lancashire)
Lancashire | Fully Remote | £45–£55 per hour | 6-Month Rolling Contract
We're recruiting on behalf of a Lancashire local authority for an experienced Planning Policy Officer to support their Planning Policy team during the Local Plan Examination stage.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established team on a fully remote basis, playing a key role in progressing the Local Plan through Examination in Public (EiP).
The Role
You will provide expert planning policy support throughout the examination process, including:
- Preparing examination documents, hearing statements, and supporting evidence.
- Responding to Inspector's questions and action points.
- Assisting with hearing sessions and post-hearing modifications.
- Reviewing planning policy documents to ensure compliance with national planning policy.
- Working closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, and statutory consultees.
- Supporting the successful progression of the Local Plan through examination.
About You
To be successful, you'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within a UK Local Authority Planning Policy team.
- Proven experience supporting a Local Plan through Examination in Public (EiP).
- Excellent understanding of the plan-making process and current planning legislation.
- Strong report writing, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently while integrating into a remote team.
Contract Details
- £45–£55 per hour
- Initial 6-month contract, with strong potential to extend
- Fully remote
- Approximate take-home pay: £4,400–£5,200 per month (depending on hours worked and individual tax circumstances)
