Principal Planning Policy Officer (Fully Remote)
Essex | Fully Remote | 6-Month Contract
£50–£55 per hour (Inside IR35)
Estimated take-home pay: £4,800–£5,300 per month after tax and deductions (dependent on individual circumstances)
An Essex local authority is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Planning Policy Officer to support the final stages of its Local Plan as it progresses to Examination in September.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established planning policy team on a fully remote basis, playing a key role in delivering one of the authority's highest-profile planning projects.
The Role
- Support the Local Plan through to Examination.
- Prepare evidence, hearing statements and examination documents.
- Respond to Inspector and stakeholder queries.
- Work closely with senior officers, legal services and consultants.
- Provide strategic planning policy advice to members and senior management.
- Assist with any modifications and post-submission work as required.
About You
- Significant experience within Planning Policy at Principal Officer level or above.
- Proven track record of working on Local Plans through submission and Examination in Public.
- Strong understanding of the planning policy framework and plan-making process.
- Excellent report writing and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to work independently and integrate quickly into an established team.
Contract Details
- 6-month initial contract.
- Fully remote working.
- £50–£55 per hour (Inside IR35).
- Estimated monthly take-home pay of £4,800–£5,300 after tax and deductions (dependent on individual circumstances).
