An established and highly regarded planning consultancy is looking to strengthen its Manchester team with the appointment of an experienced planner at Senior Planner, Principal Planner, Associate or Associate Director level.

This is an excellent opportunity for an MRTPI-qualified planner with a strong background in residential development and/or strategic land promotion to join a growing team working on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on complex planning applications, planning appeals and strategic land projects, while playing an important role in advising a broad range of clients, including landowners, developers and housebuilders.

The Role

  • Managing and delivering planning projects from inception through to determination
  • Providing strategic planning advice to a diverse client base
  • Preparing planning appraisals, applications and supporting documentation
  • Managing stakeholder and client relationships
  • Supporting and contributing to planning appeals, hearings and public inquiries
  • Working closely with senior colleagues on major residential and strategic land schemes
  • Contributing to business development and client growth activities (particularly at Associate and Associate Director level)

About You

  • MRTPI qualified
  • Typically, 5-7+ years' post-qualification experience
  • Experience within a planning consultancy, developer, land promoter or related environment
  • Strong residential and/or strategic land planning experience
  • Excellent written, verbal and client-facing communication skills
  • Experience of planning appeals, hearings, public inquiries or expert witness work would be advantageous
  • Candidates with an interest in developing expert witness experience are also encouraged to apply
  • Existing client relationships or a demonstrable business development track record would be beneficial but are not essential
