Planning Officer / Senior Planning Officer
Lancashire | 3-Month Contract | £35-40 per hour
A Lancashire-based local authority is seeking an experienced Planning Officer or Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management team on an initial 3-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive planning service, managing a varied caseload of planning applications and contributing to the delivery of high-quality development across the borough.
The Role
- Managing a mixed caseload of planning applications, including householder, minor and small major developments.
- Assessing applications against local and national planning policy.
- Preparing delegated and committee reports.
- Providing pre-application advice and engaging with applicants, agents and consultees.
- Attending committee meetings where required.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across planning and other council departments.
About You
- Previous Development Management experience within a UK local authority.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision.
- Strong report writing and decision-making skills.
- Experience preparing committee reports and presenting recommendations.
- RTPI membership or working towards membership is desirable.
Contract Details
- Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension.
- £35-40 per hour.
- Weekly office presence required.
- Flexible working arrangements available outside of office days.
