A Local Authority is seeking an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join its team on an initial 6-month contract.
This role offers the opportunity to manage a varied caseload of planning enforcement matters while assisting the authority in reducing a small existing backlog. The team is well-established and supportive, making it an ideal opportunity for an experienced enforcement professional looking for a long-term contract with flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigating alleged breaches of planning control.
- Managing enforcement cases from initial complaint through to resolution.
- Conducting site visits and gathering evidence where required.
- Preparing reports, notices and correspondence.
- Liaising with complainants, developers, legal teams and other stakeholders.
- Supporting the authority in reducing its existing enforcement backlog.
Essential Experience:
- Previous Local Authority Planning Enforcement experience.
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation and enforcement procedures.
- Experience managing a varied enforcement caseload independently.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience preparing and serving enforcement notices.
- Experience dealing with appeals and complex enforcement investigations.
