A Local Authority in the South West is looking to appoint an experienced Principal Planning Policy Officer to support the progression of its Local Plan through Examination.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Planning Policy professional with recent Local Plan experience to play a key role at a critical stage of the plan-making process. You'll be working closely with senior officers, consultants and stakeholders to help navigate Examination matters and ensure the authority remains on track with its programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Local Plan through Examination.
- Drafting and reviewing evidence base documents, statements and responses.
- Liaising with the Planning Inspectorate, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Assisting with hearing sessions and Examination-related workstreams.
- Providing strategic planning policy advice to senior officers and members where required.
Essential Experience:
- Previous Local Authority Planning Policy experience.
- Recent involvement in Local Plan preparation and/or Examination stages.
- Strong understanding of the plan-making process and national planning policy.
- Excellent report writing and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience supporting authorities through Examination hearings.
- MRTPI qualification or equivalent planning background.
Contract Details:
- 9–12 month contract with the potential for extension.
- £50 per hour.
- Predominantly remote working arrangement.
- Office attendance required approximately once every three weeks.
- Looking for someone who can start within the coming weeks.
