We're working with a highly regarded planning consultancy that is continuing to grow its Birmingham team and is looking to appoint an ambitious Senior Planner.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with consultancy or private-sector experience who is looking to take on greater responsibility, work with a diverse client base, and accelerate their career within a supportive and commercially focused environment.
The Role
As a Senior Planner, you'll be involved in a wide range of planning projects across residential, commercial, logistics, mixed-use, and strategic land sectors. You'll manage your own caseload while supporting senior colleagues on complex schemes and helping to develop client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing planning applications and appeals from submission through to determination.
- Preparing planning appraisals, statements, and supporting reports.
- Advising clients on planning strategy, development opportunities, and planning risks.
- Building and maintaining relationships with local authorities, consultants, and key stakeholders.
- Attending client meetings, public consultations, and planning committee hearings.
- Supporting business development activities and contributing to new work opportunities.
- Mentoring junior planners and assisting with team development.
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- MRTPI status or are close to achieving chartership.
- Experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or private-sector environment.
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and development management process.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- The confidence to manage projects and engage directly with clients.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach to planning.
