I’m currently working with a well-established and highly regarded residential developer who is looking to appoint a Town Planner to join their growing team based in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional who wants to play a key role in delivering high-quality housing schemes across the region.
The Role
As a Town Planner, you’ll support the land and planning function in identifying, promoting, and securing residential development opportunities. You’ll be involved throughout the planning lifecycle, from early-stage site assessments through to securing planning permissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications and appeals
- Conduct site appraisals and assess planning risks/opportunities
- Liaise with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders
- Support strategic land promotion and Local Plan representations
- Monitor planning policy changes and advise the wider business
- Assist in negotiating Section 106 agreements
About You
- Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
- Working towards or already MRTPI qualified (desirable)
- Previous experience within residential development, consultancy, or local authority
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proactive, organised, and commercially aware
