Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading national property consultancy in their search for an Associate Director to join their Birmingham team.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced planning professional to join one of the UK’s largest and most respected consultancies, working on a diverse portfolio of high-profile and regionally significant projects across the Midlands. The successful candidate will play a strategic and managerial role within a highly established Birmingham team regarded by clients as a market leader.


THE ROLE

As an Associate Director, you will play a key role in helping to win and deliver a broad range of projects across residential, mixed-use, commercial, tourism, leisure, and strategic land sectors.

The role will involve contributing to business strategy, overseeing operational and financial management responsibilities, and managing multidisciplinary project teams from the earliest stages through to completion.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Associate Director looking to further establish themselves within a leading national consultancy environment.


PROJECT EXPOSURE

The Birmingham team works across a wide variety of projects including:

• Government-backed Garden Villages
• Strategic Urban Extensions
• Major urban mixed-use developments
• Commercial, tourism, and leisure schemes
• Rural and landed estate portfolios
• Strategic land promotion projects

Clients include landowners, developers, promoters, investors, institutions, national and regional housebuilders, and commercial operators.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leading and managing complex projects across the Midlands
• Supporting business development and work-winning activities
• Contributing to team strategy and operational management
• Managing project finances and resource allocation
• Coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and project inputs
• Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
• Preparing and reviewing planning strategies, reports, and submissions
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members


WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
• MRTPI qualified
• Strong experience within a consultancy environment
• Proven experience managing major projects and client relationships
• Commercial awareness and strategic thinking abilities
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
• Experience across strategic land, development management, or mixed-use projects desirable
• Ability to contribute to business growth and team development
