Manchester (Salford) | Hybrid Working | Permanent

£75,000–£95,000 + Bonus + Route to Equity

An award-winning and rapidly growing planning, development and socio-economics consultancy is seeking a Director / Head of Planning to lead and expand its Planning team.

This is a key senior appointment within the business, offering the opportunity to shape the future direction of the planning service line while working on some of the North of England's most significant residential-led regeneration, strategic development and new settlement projects.

The consultancy advises a broad range of public and private sector clients, delivering planning solutions for major residential, mixed-use and regeneration schemes across the UK. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading project delivery, developing client relationships and contributing to the wider growth strategy of the business.

The Role

As Director / Head of Planning, you will:

  • Lead, develop and grow the Planning team
  • Take ownership of the planning service line and its continued expansion
  • Lead delivery on major residential and mixed-use projects
  • Build and strengthen relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities
  • Provide strategic planning advice across a diverse portfolio of schemes
  • Contribute to business leadership and strategic decision-making

About You

You will be:

  • MRTPI Chartered
  • Possessing 10+ years' post-qualification experience
  • Experienced within a consultancy environment, with a strong understanding of fee earning, utilisation, business development and client management
  • Able to demonstrate a strong track record on large-scale residential and mixed-use developments, including strategic sites, urban extensions, garden villages/new settlements, regeneration projects or major housing schemes
  • Experienced in advising both public and private sector clients, including local authorities, Homes England, combined authorities, registered providers, developers, land promoters and housebuilders
  • An effective leader with experience managing teams, projects and client relationships
  • Ambitious and ready to take a senior leadership role within a growing consultancy

Package

  • £75,000–£95,000 basic salary (DOE)

Location

Candidates should be based within reasonable commuting distance of Manchester, including the North West, North East, Yorkshire or the North Midlands, or be willing to relocate. Projects are delivered nationally, with the team centred in Manchester.
