An established and highly regarded UK residential developer is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join its East Midlands division based in Leicester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to play a key role in the acquisition, promotion and delivery of residential and mixed-use development sites across the region. Working within a collaborative land and planning team, you will provide strategic planning advice, manage planning applications and help drive the delivery of major housing developments.
The Role
Reporting into the senior planning leadership team, responsibilities will include:
- Providing planning advice to land teams on residential and mixed-use schemes
- Managing and promoting strategic land opportunities
- Identifying potential development sites through emerging and adopted planning policy
- Promoting sites through the Local Plan process
- Preparing planning appraisals and planning reports for land acquisitions
- Assisting with planning strategies to secure deliverable planning consents
- Negotiating with local authorities, stakeholders and communities
- Managing and supporting planning applications and appeals
- Negotiating Section 106 agreements alongside land and legal teams
- Attending Planning Committees and representing the business where required
- Managing consultant teams and planning budgets
About You
- Previous experience working as a Planner or Senior Planner within residential development, consultancy or housebuilding
- Strong understanding of UK planning policy and development control
- Experience managing planning applications, appeals and strategic land promotions
- Confident communicator with experience presenting in public forums
- Commercially aware and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong written, analytical and negotiation skills
Qualifications
- Degree in Planning, Surveying or related discipline
- MRTPI or MRICS preferred
