๐Ÿ“ Manchester (Hybrid โ€“ 3 days in the office)

The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Associate Planner to join a consultancy in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in the delivery of a diverse portfolio of planning and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects.

You will be responsible for managing projects from inception through to completion, maintaining strong client relationships, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The role offers the chance to further develop your leadership skills while contributing to the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage planning and EIA projects with minimal supervision, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality standards
  • Prepare and coordinate planning applications, Environmental Statements, screening and scoping requests, and supporting technical documentation
  • Act as a key client contact, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring client objectives are achieved
  • Manage internal teams and external consultants, coordinating technical inputs and project programmes
  • Review and quality assure work produced by junior team members, providing guidance and mentoring
  • Support business development activities, including fee proposals, tender submissions, and networking opportunities
  • Mentor and support the development of Planning Consultants and Graduate Planners
  • Engage with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, and key stakeholders throughout the planning process

About You

  • Around 8+ yearsโ€™ experience within a planning consultancy or similar environment
  • Proven experience in leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system, including EIA processes and application procedures
  • Excellent report writing, organisational, and communication skills
  • Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to project delivery
