The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Associate Director to join a leading private sector planning consultancy in Central London. This is a key strategic hire, offering the opportunity to lead on high-profile retail and town centre planning projects across London and the wider UK.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping retail-led developments, advising major clients, and driving business growth within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex retail planning applications from inception through to determination
- Provide strategic planning advice to developers, landowners, and retail clients
- Manage client relationships and act as a trusted advisor on major schemes
- Oversee the preparation of planning statements, retail impact assessments, and supporting documents
- Engage with local authorities, stakeholders, and key decision-makers
- Mentor and develop junior team members
- Support business development, including networking and winning new work
About You
- Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
- Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
- Significant experience within a private sector consultancy
- Proven track record delivering retail and town centre planning applications
- Strong knowledge of UK planning policy, including retail impact and sequential testing
- Commercially aware with strong client-facing skills
- Experience leading projects and managing teams
