Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director to join a well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy. Whether you are an experienced Associate seeking a new challenge or a Senior Planner ready to step up, this role offers the chance to play a key part in delivering high-quality planning services and shaping development projects from inception through to completion.

The Role
You will work across a diverse client base including housebuilders, land promoters, and developers at national, regional, and local levels. The role combines project delivery, client relationship management, and an opportunity to contribute to business growth, with support from senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing strategic planning advice and delivering high-quality reports
- Managing projects from early-stage strategy through to determination
- Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
- Undertaking site appraisals, research, and due diligence
- Liaising and negotiating with local authorities and stakeholders
- Leading community engagement activities where required
- Building and maintaining strong client and professional relationships
- Supporting and mentoring planners at all levels, including graduates and junior staff
- Contributing to business development and identifying new opportunities
- Managing workloads effectively and working both independently and collaboratively
About You
- MRTPI qualified with significant post-qualification experience (typically 7+ years)
- Strong experience in the UK planning system, gained in the public and/or private sector
- Proven ability to manage projects and deliver strategic planning advice
- Commercial awareness and an interest in developing new business
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Proactive, solution-focused approach
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based systems
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and/or an Urban Design qualification
