Senior Town Planner

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Town Planner to join our dynamic planning team in Newcastle. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping sustainable communities, delivering high-quality developments, and influencing strategic planning decisions across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of planning applications and projects from inception to determination
- Provide expert planning advice to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Prepare and submit planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation
- Liaise with local authorities, consultants, and community stakeholders
- Conduct site appraisals and feasibility studies
- Mentor and support junior planners within the team
- Monitor planning policy changes and assess their impact on projects
- Represent clients at planning committees, hearings, and public consultations
Requirements
- Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, or a related discipline
- Chartered membership (or working towards) with the RTPI
- Significant experience in a planning role (public or private sector)
- Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills

- Experience working on major or complex developments

- Commercial awareness and client-facing experience
