Senior to Associate Planner – Midlands
Location: Ashby-de-la-Zouche / Market Harborough
The Team & Role Focus
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and ambitious Planning Team based in Ashby, with the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in the Market Harborough office. The team is seeking a motivated individual to help strengthen and grow its planning consultancy services.
Working as part of a collaborative planning team, and alongside a wider multidisciplinary workforce, you will contribute to a diverse range of projects. The role offers the chance to lead on innovative energy and infrastructure schemes across sectors such as water, gas, and electricity. Responsibilities will include site appraisals, pre-application advice, project management, preparation of planning applications, and providing expert advice to clients.
This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday), supported by a flexible hybrid working policy.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing and prioritising your own workload
- Delivering high-quality planning advice and services to clients
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members, including through the APC process
- Undertaking site appraisals and developing site-specific strategies
- Preparing and submitting planning applications, including detailed reports
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including architects, landscape architects, highways, drainage, and ecology consultants
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, including Planning Officers, Councillors, and statutory consultees
- Leading and attending project meetings
- Negotiating to achieve the best outcomes for clients
- Supporting colleagues through collaboration and shared project work
- Managing project budgets, time recording, and invoicing
About You
- Ideally MRTPI qualified
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach
- A collaborative team player
- Competent in Microsoft Office and IT systems
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good understanding of the UK planning market
