Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading UK planning and development consultancy in their search for talented Senior, Principal, and Associate Planners to join their growing Nottingham team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of high-profile projects, ranging from urban regeneration schemes to large-scale strategic planning initiatives across the UK. You’ll collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to help deliver successful and sustainable development outcomes.
The Opportunity

You’ll gain exposure to diverse and complex projects, including major residential and mixed-use urban extensions, while playing a key role in identifying and shaping new development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the development of planning strategies and policies
- Manage planning applications, appeals, and consultations
- Undertake site appraisals, feasibility studies, and impact assessments
- Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and authorities
- Provide expert planning advice to clients and internal teams
- Prepare high-quality Planning Statements, Appraisals, and Statements of Case
- Stay up to date with planning legislation, policy changes, and industry best practice
About You
- Experience in a planning role (consultancy, local authority, or development background)
- Relevant degree in Town Planning or related field
- MRTPI qualified or working towards RTPI membership
- Strong understanding of UK planning systems and processes
- Excellent report writing skills with high attention to detail
- Confident communicator with a proactive, approachable style
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A motivated team player with a positive and driven attitude

Working Arrangements
This is a hybrid role based in the East Midlands, with an expectation of 2–3 days per week in the Nottingham office. The organisation offers a flexible, blended approach to working, recognising the importance of work-life balance and individual preferences.
