About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Town Planner to join our growing planning team in West Yorkshire. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments across the region. You will play a key role in managing planning applications, advising clients, and supporting strategic development projects while helping shape sustainable communities.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a range of planning projects from early feasibility through to determination.

Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications, appeals, and pre-application enquiries.

Provide strategic planning advice to clients, developers, and internal teams.

Undertake site appraisals and planning policy assessments.

Liaise with local planning authorities, stakeholders, consultants, and community groups.

Prepare planning statements, supporting reports, and consultation responses.

Monitor and interpret local and national planning policy and legislation.

Support business development, including client relationship management and project bidding.

Mentor and provide guidance to junior planners within the team.
Requirements

Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related discipline.

Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards it.

Typically 5+ years’ experience in planning (public or private sector).

Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, particularly within England.

Proven experience managing planning applications and engaging with local authorities.

Excellent report writing, communication, and negotiation skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Full UK driving licence (desirable).
Desirable Experience

Experience working on large residential or mixed-use developments.

Knowledge of West Yorkshire planning policy and local authority processes.

Experience presenting at planning committees or public consultations.

Project management or client-facing experience.
