An established planning-led multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Planner to join its growing team in Bedford. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide range of projects while developing your career within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The Opportunity
You will join a busy and friendly team with a strong pipeline of work across both the private and public sectors. Projects include:
- Residential developments of all scales
- Affordable housing schemes
- Local Plan promotion work
- Planning and enforcement appeals
- Care villages and retirement living developments
- Grey Belt sites
- Change of use proposals
You will also collaborate with colleagues across a broader multidisciplinary team, including specialists in planning research, masterplanning and urban design, architecture, transport and infrastructure, sustainability engineering and environmental services.
The Role
As a Senior Planner, you will support senior colleagues while also taking the lead on smaller projects, depending on your experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing commercial planning advice to a diverse client base
- Preparing high-quality planning reports, applications and submissions
- Managing and coordinating technical consultants within project teams
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Engaging with local planning authorities and key stakeholders
- Representing clients’ interests throughout the planning process
- Contributing positively to the growth and success of the Bedford team
About You
The successful candidate will be a motivated and proactive planner with the ability to work across a range of projects and planning issues.
You will ideally have:
- Around 3+ years’ professional experience in town planning (private or public sector)
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy
- Excellent written, verbal and technical communication skills
- Good project management and organisational abilities
- The confidence to build relationships with clients and stakeholders
