Senior Planner
📍 Norwich (NR7)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner to join a leading residential developer based in Norwich. This role sits within the Technical Team and reports to the Planning Director, playing a key role in securing planning consents and supporting the continued growth of the regional land pipeline.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a programme of planning applications and site promotions, helping to convert land opportunities into deliverable residential developments. The role involves working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including landowners, consultants, local planning authorities, developers and local communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake site appraisals, including analysis of planning histories, policy review and assessment of development opportunities for both immediate and strategic sites.
- Prepare and project manage planning applications, including Outline, Full and Reserved Matters submissions.
- Manage the discharge of planning conditions to support the delivery of new development sites.
- Prepare supporting planning documentation, including Design & Access Statements and other key reports.
- Liaise with internal teams, external consultants and local planning authorities throughout the planning process.
- Coordinate information for stakeholder engagement and public consultation events.
- Assist in developing planning strategies to promote medium and long-term sites through the development plan process.
- Support the Planning Director and wider team in delivering the regional planning strategy.
- Provide mentoring and support to junior members of the team.
- Contribute to regional meetings and business discussions as a planning subject matter expert.
Requirements
- Experience leading and managing planning applications within either the public or private sector.
- RTPI-accredited Planning degree or master’s qualification.
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and development process.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a fast-paced, commercial environment.
- Proactive, collaborative and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence.
