Planner - Swansea

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planner to join an established Planning Team within a growing residential development business based in Swansea.
Reporting to the Head of Planning, this role will play an important part in securing planning consents and supporting the delivery of both immediate and strategic residential sites. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, consultants, local planning authorities and community stakeholders throughout the planning process.
This position would suit a planner with experience in either private consultancy, housebuilding or the public sector, looking to develop their career within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake site appraisals, including analysis of planning history, policy review and assessment of development opportunities.
- Prepare and project manage planning applications, including Outline, Full and Reserved Matters submissions.
- Manage the discharge of planning conditions to support site delivery.
- Prepare supporting planning documentation including Planning Statements and Design & Access Statements.
- Liaise with internal teams, external consultants and local planning authorities throughout the planning process.
- Coordinate information for public consultation and stakeholder engagement events.
- Assist in developing planning strategies for medium and long-term site promotion through the development plan process.
- Monitor progress of local development plans and planning policy updates across relevant local authority areas.
- Provide support to the wider planning team and occasionally deputise for the Head of Planning when required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in town planning, either within consultancy, a developer/housebuilder or the public sector.
- RTPI-accredited degree or master’s in Planning.
- Good understanding of the UK planning system, including development management and planning policy.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence.
